Bennett: Afghan women have become distrustful of the international community

Richard Bennett, the UN Human Rights Council’s special rapporteur for Afghanistan, said that the international community has betrayed women in Afghanistan, and this has caused Afghan women and girls to distrust the international community.
Mr. Bennett made these statements in a meeting called “Fighting Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan” which was held on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In this meeting, he emphasized that women in Afghanistan have been left alone and added that Afghan women and girls have become distrustful of the international community.
According to him, the current situation in Afghanistan will not be improved by condemning but by practical measures.
