The victims of the earthquake in Herat reached more than 2 thousand people

Officials in the Ministry of Combating Natural Disasters say that the death toll from yesterday’s earthquake in Herat has reached more than 2,000 people.

Mulla Janan Saiq, the spokesman of the ministry, says that according to the latest information and reports, 2,053 people died as a result of yesterday’s earthquakes in Herat and 9,240 others were injured.

He added that as a result of this event, 1,320 residential houses were also destroyed in 13 villages of Herat province.

According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Combating Natural Disasters, rescue teams have been sent to the earthquake-affected areas.

The United States Geological Center has announced the magnitude of the earthquake in Herat yesterday as 6.2 Richter, and its aftershocks were also felt in the neighboring provinces of Herat.
