The number of victims of the earthquake in Herat increased to more than 2,400

Officials of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Natural Disaster Management say that the number of victims of the recent earthquake in Herat has reached more than 2,400.
Mulla Janan Saiq, the spokesman of the ministry, says that as a result of Saturday’s earthquake in Herat, 2,445 people have died and the number of injured has reached 2,440.
He added that most of the missing people as a result of this event were identified in 13 villages of Zindajan district of Herat province and 1,320 residential houses were also destroyed due to this earthquake.
Meanwhile, the American Geological Center reported that the earthquake on Saturday in Herat had several aftershocks with different intensities.
It should be mentioned that as a result of this earthquake, many people have been displaced and the authorities of Herat province have asked for immediate help from domestic and international relief organizations.
