Hamid Karzai met with the Special Coordinator of the United Nations Secretary General for Afghanistan

Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, met with Fereydon Sinirlioglu, the special coordinator of the United Nations Secretary-General for Afghanistan.

In this meeting, the former president of Afghanistan called the provision of education for girls and the return of women to work as a vital issue for the growth and development of the country and considered national understanding to be the only way to establish lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Mr. Karzai further emphasized on the cooperation of the United Nations and its effective role in maintaining and ensuring international peace and security, and demanded the continuation of this organization’s assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

In this meeting, Mr. Sinirlioglu expressed his sympathy with the people of Afghanistan regarding the earthquake in Herat province, and both sides discussed and exchanged opinions about the current situation in Afghanistan.
