Journalists’ Center reported increasing pressure on the media in Afghanistan
In a report, the Center of Afghan Journalists has announced the intensification of the pressure on the free media, the drastic change in the working content of the media, and the arrest of journalists in the country.
In the report published by this center, the situation of media freedom in Afghanistan was examined in the last six months of this year and it was stated that during this period, the pressure on free media and the arrest of journalists in the country increased.
The Afghan Journalists Center added that currently, not only in the provinces, but also in Kabul, the normal working process of the media has been disrupted and the possibility of preparing and publishing free and investigative reports or challenging media programs has been lost due to severe restrictions on access to information.
In the first six months of this year, the Afghan Journalists Center has recorded at least 75 incidents of violating the freedom of journalists and media, including 33 arrests and 42 threats.
The Center of Afghan Journalists emphasized that the restrictions imposed on free media and journalists and the violation of their legal rights are not only ineffective, but also have very negative consequences on the country’s awareness and progress.
So far, the officials of the Islamic Emirate have not said anything about this report.
