A journalist was sentenced to one year in prison in Daikendi

The Afghan Journalists Center has announced that Sultan Ali Javadi, the manager of a private radio station in Daikundi, has been sentenced to one year in prison by the primary court of this province.

The Center of Afghan Journalists said in a statement that this reporter was summoned to the primary court in Nili, the capital of Daikundi Province, yesterday (Tuesday) and the judge sentenced him to one year in prison.

This organization quoted knowledgeable sources as saying that Sultan Ali Javadi was convicted of “propaganda against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” and “espionage for foreign and infidel countries”.

However, the local authorities of Daikendi have not said anything about the arrest of this journalist.

While expressing concern over the issuance of this sentence, the Center of Afghan Journalists has demanded a review of this sentence and the immediate release of this local journalist.
