WFP requested 400 million dollars to help the needy people in Afghanistan
The World Food Program says it needs $400 million to provide emergency aid to people in need in Afghanistan this coming winter.
The World Food Program said in a statement that currently a total of 15.3 million people in Afghanistan do not have enough food to eat and that the country is on the verge of economic collapse.
According to this organization, acute malnutrition in 25 provinces of Afghanistan is above the emergency level and is expected to worsen, almost half of children under 5 years old and a quarter of pregnant and lactating women will need life-saving nutritional support in the next 12 months.
The World Food Program added that with the arrival of winter, it will be difficult to deliver emergency aid to most parts of Afghanistan, and the international community must act to prevent a humanitarian disaster in this country.
