The Taliban called the appointment of a new UN representative for Afghanistan unnecessary
In response to the recent UN Security Council resolution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has said that it is unnecessary to appoint a new representative for Afghanistan.
On Friday, the UN Security Council approved a resolution with 13 votes in favor and 2 abstentions, in which the UN Secretary General is asked to appoint a special representative for Afghanistan.
In response to this resolution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate said that this resolution was approved without consulting the Afghan government and appointing an additional representative for Afghanistan in UNAMA is considered unnecessary.
This ministry asked the United Nations to take into account the existing realities in the decisions related to Afghanistan, and its decisions should not be influenced by any party.
