Officials of Iran and Pakistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan
Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the special representative of the Iranian president for Afghanistan, says that he discussed the situation in Afghanistan in a meeting with Jalil Abbas Jilani, the foreign minister of Pakistan in Islamabad.
He wrote on page X that he emphasized in this meeting that the peace and stability of the region is dependent on peace and stability in Afghanistan and what can help to establish this peace are regional initiatives centered on Afghanistan’s neighboring countries.
Mr. Kazemi added: “In this framework, we agreed with our Pakistani counterparts that Afghanistan’s neighboring countries will form the core of the regional contact group for Afghanistan and present a package of constructive proposals to the caretaker government of Afghanistan.”
According to the representative of the President of Iran for Afghanistan, the contact group and its agenda can be expanded and can address the concerns of Afghanistan’s neighbors, regional countries and the international community about Afghanistan in the form of a specific agenda with a logical timetable, step by step.
