The Sunday Guardian: Pakistani Army Supports ISIS in Afghanistan

Pakistan’s military is seeking to send ISIS fighters to Taliban-ruled Afghan territory, a respected British publication has reported, citing its sources.

The Sunday Guardian reported on Sunday, January 28, referring to a clash with the Taliban in the Sarkanawi district of Kunar a few days ago, that the clash occurred while the Pakistani army tried to move ISIS members to Afghanistan.

Ehsanullah Ehsan, a former TTP commander, has accused Pakistan of trying to infiltrate ISIS on Afghan soil.

ISIS fighters have clashed with the Taliban as they cross Pakistan’s border bases and have fled again toward Pakistani forces, according to his comments.

“The Taliban targeted the positions of Pakistani forces with heavy weapons to eliminate ISIS elements, which in response, the Pakistani side also used artillery,” Ehsan said.

He also noted that “ISIS fighters there had the full support of the Pakistani army and were supported by the Pakistani military, which came to the attention of the Taliban.”
