Taliban: Screening of polio in Afghanistan soon
The Ministry of Health of the Islamic Emirate claims that it will open the first polio diagnostic laboratory in Afghanistan in the near future.
The Taliban’s health ministry said in a statement Sunday (January 28) that once the lab begins work, it will allow for polio detection inside Afghanistan.
The ministry also said there have been no positive cases of polio in Afghanistan since the beginning of 2024.
The Taliban’s Health Ministry statement claimed that the group has made great progress in eradicating polio in Afghanistan in the past two years.
Currently, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries that have not been able to eradicate polio.
