Mass Quantities of Expired Food and Drugs Burned in Balkh

Abdul Wahid Abedi, head of the Food and Drug Administration in Balkh, said they have burned 21 tonnes of expired medicines and foodstuffs.

According to Mr. Abedi, the drugs and food had been collected from all over Balkh and the fire was set on fire yesterday evening (Wednesday, January 31).

The total value of this amount of medicines and food items is estimated at 3 million Afghanis, the local Taliban official said.

He emphasizes that they are dealing with outdated drug and food vendors and have started trying to stop them from being sold.
