Planting seeds campaign to prevent air pollution and expand green areas in Balkh

Mazar-e-Sharif Municipality has launched a seed planting campaign to prevent air pollution and expand green areas.

The campaign started on Wednesday, February 7, and about 150,000 fruitful and unproductive saplings will be planted in Balkh this year.

Mohammad Kazem Tariq, mayor of Mazar-e-Sharif, said the campaign will be paid for by institutions such as municipality, environment and agriculture department of Balkh.

According to him, the seedlings prepared for gars include fruitful, non-fruitful saplings and ornamental plants.

Some residents of Mazar-e-Sharif see the campaign as effective in expanding green space, but they want to preserve, care and irrigate planted seedlings in a timely manner.
