CASA 1000 power transmission work begins in Afghanistan
The World Bank has announced that under the bank’s new approach to supporting the Afghan people, the CASA-1000 power transmission project will resume in Afghanistan.
According to the World Bank’s statement, the Bank’s Board of Directors approved a new modified approach called the “Approach 3.0” to support the Afghan people yesterday.
The World Bank said work on the CASA-1000 project would resume at the request of three neighbouring countries to avoid the risk of the project becoming a “wandering asset.”
CASA-1000 is an energy transfer project from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan through Afghanistan worth $1.2 billion.
The World Bank said the project was almost finished in three other countries, with only one remaining in Afghanistan.
