Pakistani special representative to attend Doha summit
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the special representative Asif Durrani will attend the Doha meeting on Afghanistan.
The second meeting of Special Representatives for Afghanistan will begin tomorrow (Sunday, February 18) in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday that Asif Durrani, the country’s special representative for Afghanistan, will be at the head of a delegation.
The ministry also said attendance at the meeting was “part of our efforts to actively engage with the international community, including the United Nations, to strengthen efforts for lasting peace and prosperity in Afghanistan.”
The second meeting of special representatives of countries for Afghanistan will be held on Sunday and Monday in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The meeting will be hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss a more coherent and organized engagement of the international community with a Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
In this meeting, the Special Representative of States for Afghanistan will review the recommendations of the Independent Afghanistan Assessment Report and consult on the appointment of the UN Special Representative for Afghanistan in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution.
