UNICEF distributed iron folic acid tablets to more than four million teenage girls in Afghanistan
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says that in 2023, it has distributed iron folic acid tablets to more than four million teenage girls in Afghanistan and protected them from anemia.
UNICEF added today (Tuesday, August 8) in X that it has provided this medicine to Afghan teenage girls with the financial support of the European Union.
This organization said that folic acid tablets are distributed by health workers in homes. These pills used to be distributed in girls’ schools, but the Taliban have closed the schools to girls above the sixth grade.
