UNAMA holds a consultative meeting on Afghanistan

According to the work plan of the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) will hold a consultative meeting on Afghanistan on Wednesday, 16 August.

It is stated in the work program of the Security Council that UNAMA will also hold a press conference on the same day.

More information about the work agenda and participants of this consultative meeting has not been published yet.

This UNAMA meeting will be held at the Security Council headquarters, a few days after the UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan.

It is expected that the progress of the UN consultations on Afghanistan will be explained in the upcoming consultative meeting.

The last meeting of the UN Security Council regarding Afghanistan was held behind closed doors on Monday (7th of Pisces) without the official announcement of specific results and decisions.

According to reports, the differences between the permanent members of the UN Security Council were serious regarding the interaction with the Islamic Emirate, and this made it difficult for this council to make a decision.

Stephen Dujarric; In a press conference after the end of the meeting of the Security Council, the spokesperson of the Secretary General of the United Nations briefly said that Antonio Guterres; The UN Secretary General presented a report on Afghanistan to the members, but refused to provide more details about the meeting.
