Iran Halts Nimruz-Zahedan Taxi Services, Drivers Seek Resolution
For more than a week, the operation of taxis on the Nimruz-Zahedan route in Nimruz Province has been halted.
Drivers report that the Iranian government has suspended their activities for unspecified reasons.
Ahmad Wali, one of the drivers, said, “Our activity has been stopped by the Iranian government for over a week without a clear reason.”
Another driver, Javid, added, “We have prepaid for the kilometer charges and a three-month insurance to Iran, but officials in Sistan and Baluchestan Province have halted our work.”
Abdul Baqi, another driver, said: “I urge the caretaker government to address this problem immediately. We’ve invested all our capital into these taxis to be able to provide for our families.”
Meanwhile, Nimruz local authorities state that they are trying to resolve this issue through dialogue.
Izzatullah Wafa, Director of Coordination at the Nimruz Transport Directorate, said: “This issue has arisen from the
Iranian government, and they are preventing the taxis from entering. We are working to resolve this matter through dialogue.”
Around 200 taxis operate on this route, but the reason for their suspension by the officials of Sistan and Baluchestan Province remains unclear.
