Mujahid: Fulfilling Doha III Commitments Needs Ongoing Meetings
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated that fulfilling the commitments made at the third Doha meeting will require further sessions.
Mujahid said that the United Nations must ensure the implementation of these commitments through a clear mechanism. He elaborated: “The third meeting was focused on garnering support, where countries pledged their backing. To follow up on how this support will be implemented, additional meetings are necessary. It also falls to the UN to establish a mechanism for assessing and realizing the promises made by countries to assist Afghans.”
Several political analysts have expressed that resolving Afghanistan’s issues will require continued Doha meetings. They believe that, through dialogue on various matters and implementing multilateral commitments, Afghanistan’s challenges can be addressed.
Political analyst Saleem Paigir commented: “Significant challenges remain between the Islamic Emirate and the international community. Issues such as the absence of a constitution, schools, freedom of expression, universities, and certain human rights concerns need to be discussed and resolved so that all matters can be addressed through political dialogue.”
It has been over four months since the third Doha meeting on Afghanistan.
Previously, the UN’s Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs, in a meeting with Qatar’s permanent representative to the United Nations, emphasized the importance of building on the positive outcomes from the third Doha meeting and utilizing these in the upcoming fourth Doha meeting.
