Community Committees Formed to Address Durand Line Residents’ Issues
The Ministry of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes states that, based on a directive from the leader of the Islamic Emirate, all challenges faced by the residents along the Durand Line have been identified.
Tasleemullah Haqqani, spokesperson for the ministry, told that the acting Minister of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes has visited the provinces of Nangarhar, Kunar, Nuristan, Paktia, Paktika, and Khost to address the issues of people along the Durand Line, establishing community committees with the participation of local officials.
Haqqani adds that they are working to resolve these people’s issues so that residents can benefit from government services.
Tasleemullah Haqqani, spokesperson for the Ministry of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes, stated, “These committees have transparently initiated their activities, and after identifying challenges, they have shared them with the central committee. Soon, from a special budget, the people will benefit from government services.”
On the other hand, some residents along the Durand Line consider the establishment of these committees helpful in addressing their issues, but they emphasize that the problems in these areas must be addressed as soon as possible.
Jahanzeb, a resident of the Durand Line, said, “These are remote areas, and the residents lack access to water, education, telecommunications, and roads.”
Taweez Khan, another resident, said, “The government has made a good decision, and this is a positive step for us that will provide many facilities for the people.”
It is worth noting that, for years, residents on both sides of the Durand Line have faced challenges related to inadequate resources in the fields of education, healthcare, economy, and other sectors.
