Mullah Baradar Meets Indian, Bangladeshi Scholars, Speaks of Intl Relations
The Deputy Prime Minister for economic affairs of the Islamic Emirate, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, during a meeting with a delegation of scholars from India and Bangladesh, stated that the Islamic Emirate seeks political and economic relations with the world.
Hamdullah Fitrat, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, said that the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs also said a self-sufficient Afghanistan beneficial for the region and the world.
During this meeting, discussions were held on strengthening madrasas (religious schools), establishing new academic institutions, reforming educational curricula, launching infrastructure projects, and enhancing trade and industry relations in Afghanistan.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate also stated: “Mullah Sahib added that the Islamic Emirate has initiated effective efforts to improve the country’s economic situation. Major economic projects have started, trade with neighboring countries, the region, and the world has expanded, progress has been made in the industrial sector compared to the past, and a foundation for a self-reliant economy free from external dependencies has been laid.”
According to the Deputy Spokesperson, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar also mentioned that the freezing of Afghanistan’s assets and economic sanctions are challenges that have slowed Afghanistan’s economic growth.
“The freezing of Afghanistan’s national assets is against international principles and must be lifted. These funds should be released to Afghanistan because they are the rightful property of the Afghan people,” Khalid Zadran, an economic expert, told .
Some economic experts consider such meetings beneficial for fostering economic relations with other countries.
“From political, economic, cultural, and social perspectives, these efforts can help Afghanistan establish connections with other countries. We hope that Bangladesh and India take steps to assist Afghanistan in building relationships with other nations,” said Mohammad Omid Jahanzada, a university professor.
Earlier, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, at a microfinance meeting in Kabul, stressed that reducing poverty and unemployment and creating job opportunities for citizens are among the priorities of the Islamic Emirate.
