Islamic Emirate Envoy Meets UAE President in Abu Dhabi
Badruddin Haqqani, the Islamic Emirate’s ambassador in Abu Dhabi, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during this meeting, the two sides discussed Afghanistan’s general situation, recent developments, and existing opportunities.
The ambassador requested that the UAE president facilitate the transfer of Afghan prisoners back to their homeland and simplify the visa issuance process for Afghan citizens.
According to the deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed referred to Afghanistan as a “brotherly” country and promised cooperation on the discussed matters.
Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesman, said: “Both sides discussed Afghanistan’s economic and security situation as well as opportunities that have emerged. Additionally, Ambassador Haqqani spoke with the UAE President about the transfer of Afghan prisoners, simplifying visa issuance for Afghans, and addressing the challenges faced by Afghans residing in the UAE.”
Meanwhile, several political analysts consider the UAE’s efforts to address Afghanistan’s challenges effective and urge the interim government to strengthen relations with Arab countries further.
Zalmai Afghanyar, a military affairs analyst, said: “Solutions for all conflicts can be found through dialogue. The discussion of prisoners and visa issuance for Afghan traders is based on safeguarding national interests.”
Salim Paigir, a political affairs analyst, said: “The UAE, which maintains good relations with Eastern countries, can assist Afghanistan in economic, political, and military spheres.”
This comes two days after the UAE president formally accepted Badruddin Haqqani’s credentials as the Islamic Emirate ambassador to Abu Dhabi.
The UAE government stated in a press release that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized strengthening ties with the interim government during the ceremony.
