Islamic Emirate, Pakistan Talks Focus on Terrorism Issue

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the country has always supported constructive dialogue and engagement between Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve existing issues.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, once again highlighted terrorism-related issues as a central topic in the interactions between Afghan and Pakistani officials.

The spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said: “both these meetings between our Deputy Prime Minister and the Charge d’ Affaires and between our Head of Mission in Kabul and the Defense Minister of Afghanistan, are an expression of Pakistan’s interest in dialogue to resolve any issues that arise from time to time and to find constructive approach and solutions to issues, including issues that are of serious concern to Pakistan.”

“Pakistan’s rulers have never been sincere. Their statements are based on deceit and cunning. If terrorism is being discussed, they should dismantle the camps established in their country,” said Zalmay Afghanyar, a military affairs expert.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that its Foreign Minister and Special Representative for Afghanistan had met with Sardar Ahmad Shakib, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Islamic Emirate’s embassy in Islamabad, to discuss relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, agreeing on strengthening mutually beneficial bilateral relations.

“A shift in Pakistan’s policy is also beneficial for Afghanistan, and Afghanistan should seize this opportunity,” said Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.

“The Islamic Emirate must strive to address the claims raised to ensure that our relations are amicable,” said Zakiullah Mohammadi, another political analyst.

These remarks by the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry regarding the country’s interest in constructive engagement and dialogue with Kabul come amidst border clashes, the closure of trade crossings for various reasons, and the expulsion of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, all of which have strained relations between the two countries over the past three years.
