Pakistani Special Envoy Sadiq Visits Kabul
Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, who arrived in Kabul one day (Monday), has discussed resolving challenges between Kabul and Islamabad with various officials of the Islamic Emirate.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister, stated during his meeting with Pakistan’s special representative that the Islamic Emirate is determined to maintain good relations with Islamabad. Muttaqi said that trade and transit exchanges between Kabul and Islamabad will increase when coordination between the two countries improves.
“They should increase meetings and talks to ensure that the relations between the two countries are cordial and ultimately lead to better trade and social relations between them,” Jannat Faheem Chakari, a political analyst, told .
Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan said in a statement that during his meeting with the acting minister of foreign affairs in Kabul, they agreed to cooperate for peace and progress in the region.
Meanwhile, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting minister of interior, in a separate meeting with Sadiq, stressed finding solutions to resolve political and security tensions to prevent harm to the relations between the two countries.
During his meeting with the acting minister of interior, Mohammad Sadiq said that he is committed to resolving the challenges between Kabul and Islamabad.
Abdul Mateen Qani, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, stated: “In the meeting, the two sides discussed improving relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, resolving existing issues, and other important topics.”
“The issue of refugees, where we have more than two million citizens in Pakistan, and the issue of transit are important matters that should be discussed. If Pakistan wants access to Central Asia, we also need access to India, and it is good to address such matters during these meetings,” said Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.
Additionally, Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, stated on X that as part of his meetings in Kabul, he also met with several Afghan businessmen and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment to discuss strengthening trade and economic cooperation.
The government of Pakistan appointed Mohammad Sadiq for the second time as the special envoy for Afghanistan in November of this year, and this is his first visit to Kabul in this term after his appointment.
