Japan provides $1.5 million to Afghanistan

The United Nations Population Fund says the Japanese government has provided $1.5 million in “additional financial assistance” to Afghanistan.

According to the fund, the assistance will be spent on supporting maternal, reproductive, child and youth health in the provinces of Kandahar, Faryab and Nangarhar.

This comes after the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) previously said in a report that additional funding was needed to provide humanitarian assistance due to the current conditions and the cold winter.
