Officials: Iron Mining in Panjshir Will Begin Soon
Local officials in Panjshir province announced that iron mining in Pariyan district will soon commence.
This mine, spread across a 3-kilometer area, was contracted last year by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Mohammad Agha Hakim, Panjshir’s governor, said: “The iron mine in Panjshir spans a vast area with significant reserves. Gold and zinc mines have also been identified. Last year, this mine was put up for bidding, and participants were dispatched for site inspections.”
Residents of Panjshir welcomed the initiation of mining operations, hoping it would create more job opportunities for locals.
Subhanullah, a resident, said: “There are numerous mines in Panjshir. If work starts on them, many people will find employment.”
Sayed Jamaluddin, another resident, said: “This project should be prioritized, and local residents should be involved. Even those returning from abroad can contribute to these projects.”
Taqwa, another resident, remarked: “The initiation of this project is a great step. It will employ young people and reduce unemployment.”
Local officials said that in addition to mining, the processing and packaging of extracted iron will be conducted within the province to create added value for the region.
