Afghan Scholars Advocate for Inclusive Government

Several religious scholars, in a meeting titled “Peace and Tolerance Among the People of Afghanistan” held in Kabul, called for the establishment of an inclusive government and the reopening of educational centers for girls.

In this meeting, the chairman of the Council for the Protection of Islamic and Jihadi Values emphasized the importance of peace and solidarity and called for women’s and girls’ access to education and the initiation of intra-Afghan dialogue.

Abdul Qader Qanat, the chairman of the Council for the Protection of Islamic and Jihadi Values, said during the meeting:
“Acquiring any knowledge that an Islamic society needs is a duty for Muslims. This includes education in fields such as midwifery, medicine, and other disciplines required for women.”

“The real transfer of power to the Afghan people is essential so that all the people of this country see themselves represented in the Islamic Emirate. This will strengthen the foundations of the Islamic Emirate,” stated Abdul Hasan, another religious scholar.
In the gathering, several scholars urged women to not remain indifferent toward wrongdoings in society and to defend their rights.

“A Muslim woman should not remain indifferent to the wrongs present in society. She must defend her rights and fight for her Islamic values and beliefs,” Abdul Aziz Shuja, a religious scholar, remarked.

“Establishing a lawful and Islamic government is the duty of all Muslims and must be free from any prejudice,” Abdul Fattah Faiq, another scholar, added.

Some women present at the meeting emphasized the need to ensure women’s right to education and learning.

“My only request from the Islamic Emirate is to reopen schools for girls,” said Zainab, a student.

“My request is that universities and schools be reopened for the girls of Afghanistan. We commit to pursuing knowledge while adhering to Islamic hijab and the rules of the Islamic Emirate,” said Nabila, another student.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council for the Protection of Islamic and Jihadi Values issued a resolution demanding the establishment of justice, the creation of an inclusive system, the reopening of schools and universities, and the prevention of discrimination.
