US Treasury sanctions on Iran include trade through Chabahar

The sanctions imposed by the US Treasury on Iran also include trade through the Chabahar port.

Chabahar port, which is an important trade route for the region, especially for Afghanistan, Iran and India, previously enjoyed exemptions. But in the new US sanctions, this exemption has been revoked.

The sanctions come after India and Iran signed a 10-year agreement last year (2024) to develop the port.
