DABS Invests Over Four Billion Afghanis in Power Supply Projects

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) announced that more than four billion Afghanis from the national budget have been spent on power supply projects.
Abdul Bari Omar, the CEO of DABS, emphasized at the inauguration ceremony of the 110-kilovolt Jarguduq substation extension and the 20-kilovolt Pul-e-Khurasan Sheberghan grid that Afghanistan needs both foreign engineers and domestic knowledge and expertise to achieve self-sufficiency.
He stated: “More than four billion Afghanis have been invested in development projects. This money did not come from the World Bank, the European Union, the United States, or any other source. This proves the commitment and vision of this system, and, Alhamdulillah, transparency exists here.”
Jowzjan Governor Gul Haidar Shafaq said: “We have gas, roads, security, and electricity here. There are no more excuses. We must work to increase our production.”
According to the CEO of DABS, an additional 570 million Afghanis have been spent in the past six months to improve power networks across the country.
Meanwhile, local officials and tribal elders have called on traders and industrialists to return to Afghanistan and invest in the energy sector, particularly in electricity and gas.
Sayyed Hamed Agha, a tribal elder from Jowzjan, stated: “If our basic needs are met and electricity is supplied, there will no longer be a need for our children to leave the country just to earn a livelihood.”
Two power projects in Sheberghan, the capital of Jowzjan province, have been completed and put into operation at a cost of over 125 million Afghanis from DABS’ development budget.
