NSIA Reports 2M Electronic ID Cards Issued, Economic Growth

The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) announced (Wednesday) in a meeting about its annual activities that nearly two million electronic ID cards have been distributed across the country from the beginning of the current solar year until the month of Hoot.

This institution also reported post-distribution services to more than 123,000 people and the issuance of birth certificates to 152,000 individuals during this period.

Mohammad Nabi Nasrat, deputy for registration and civil status at NSIA, said in the meeting:
“Nearly two million electronic ID cards have been distributed to our compatriots, and post-distribution services have been provided to 123,000 people by this authority.”

Meanwhile, Abdul Qahar Haji Edris, the director-general of NSIA, stressed that to facilitate services for citizens, certain authorities have been delegated to provincial branches. He added that since the beginning of solar month of Jadi (December 21, 2024-January 19, 2025) until now, services have been provided to 30,000 people.

Abdul Qahar Haji Edris stated: “From the first of Jadi this year, when some authorities were transferred to provincial offices, until the end of Dalwa, services have been provided to around 30,000 people in the provinces, preventing them from having to travel to the center and face unnecessary difficulties.”

The deputy of NSIA reported that the country’s export value has reached $1.3 billion, while the import value stands at $8.6 billion. He also highlighted a decrease in monetary inflation, an increase in domestic production, and a rise in electricity generation compared to the previous year.

Esmatullah Hakimi, the deputy of NSIA, stated during the event: “The value of Emirate industries’ production has been 2.654 billion afghani, which shows a 17% increase compared to the first nine months of the previous year. The amount of electricity produced from domestic sources has been 1,171 million kilowatt-hours, marking a 46.5% increase in electricity generation from internal sources compared to last year.”

According to the statistics provided by NSIA, since the beginning of the electronic ID distribution process, more than 15 million electronic ID cards have been issued across the country. Out of this total, more than 9 million ID cards were issued to men and over 6 million to women.
