Mujahid: US Delegation’s Visit Will Address Concerns of New US Gov’t

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said the visit of the American delegation to Kabul is a positive step toward improving relations between the two countries.

In an interview with , Mujahid added that these meetings can convey the wishes of the Afghan people to the United States and reduce the concerns of the previous US government.

He further stated that the reason some countries have not recognized the Islamic Emirate is due to intentional and incorrect treatment of Afghanistan.

Zabihullah Mujahid said: “A new development has occurred in the United States, and a new government has come to power. Afghanistan’s intentions should be conveyed to them, and they should be made to understand what path Afghanistan is taking and what kind of interactions it seeks. Perhaps these meetings will prove useful and the new US government’s concerns will be resolved.”

In response to a question regarding the caretaker cabinet, the spokesperson stated that although the government is operating in a caretaker capacity, the current officials have full authority and the governance process continues normally.

Regarding the absence of a constitution in the country, he added that decisions are currently being made based on Islamic laws.

Mujahid told “Law is important and necessary in every country, but what is more important is that we reach that stage. At present, we are not facing a legal vacuum, as the Islamic Emirate declared from the first day that it implements Islamic Sharia in the country.”

More than three years into the rule of the Islamic Emirate, the fate of the constitution and the caretaker cabinet remains unclear, and no country has yet recognized the Islamic Emirate.
