Ministry of Information and Culture: 13 Provinces Have Museums

The Ministry of Information and Culture said that currently there are museums in thirteen provinces of the country.

The ministry has emphasized its efforts to expand the National Museum and stated that hundreds of historical artifacts from various eras are preserved in these centers.

Khabib Ghufran, spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Culture, said: “Thirteen provinces of Afghanistan have museums where historical artifacts are preserved. These provinces include Kabul, Herat, Balkh, Samangan, Jawzjan, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Khost, Logar, Paktia, Ghor, and Badakhshan.”

Some cultural activists say that developing museums can help raise public awareness of Afghanistan’s rich history and culture, and also promote cultural tourism.

Ekrami Fandaqistani, a cultural activist, stated: “The most fundamental factor in preserving ancient and historical artifacts is the construction of standard museums.”

The National Museum of Afghanistan is one of the most important centers for the preservation of the country’s antiquities. It houses a valuable collection representing various civilizations, ranging from the Bactrian and Kushan periods to the Islamic era.
