Parandi Dam in Panjshir Will Start Operating in Near Future: Governor

Mohammad Agha Hakim, the governor of Panjshir, stated at a meeting called “Urban Dialogue” that the Parandi Dam project has been completed and will start operating in the near future.

He added that the Dalan-Sang Dam in Panjshir has also been approved by the leader of the Islamic Emirate, and initial work on it has begun.

According to the governor, the cost of the Parandi Dam is estimated at 7.6 million USD, and it has the capacity to produce four megawatts of electricity.

Mohammad Agha Hakim further noted: “In the coming days, we will inaugurate the Parandi Dam, a project that had been halted for years. Thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Water and the leadership of the province, this project has been completed.”

This meeting was organized by local officials in Panjshir with the aim of strengthening the connection between the people and the local government. The local authorities shared their annual reports with the people during the meeting.

Rahmatullah Mohammadi, the mayor of Bazarak, Panjshir, announced the construction of a recreational park worth over 70 million afghani in the current solar year.

Regarding the park, Rahmatullah Mohammadi said: “A recreational park worth 70 million afghani will be built. The letter of approval for this park has been issued by the Administration Affairs Department, and the contract has been signed. The company that has been contracted will arrive in Panjshir tomorrow.”

Participants in the meeting identified the destruction of roads, the poor quality of telecommunications networks, lack of access to clean drinking water, and shortages in the healthcare and education sectors as serious challenges faced by the people of the province, and they called for solutions to these issues.

Baz Mohammad, a resident of Panjshir, said: “No one has addressed our agriculture, nor our canal issues. The people are dealing with these matters despite extreme poverty and hardship.”

Mohammad Sharif, another resident of the province, said: “We ask the officials of the Ministry of Public Works and those responsible for roads to carry out their work with genuine care.”

Local officials in Panjshir assured the residents during the meeting that they would address the challenges faced by the people of the province throughout the current solar year.
