Usmon Toshev Resigns as Afghanistan National Football Team Coach

Omid Homayouni, the manager of the national football team, confirmed that Toshev submitted his resignation to the Afghanistan Football Federation last Thursday, and it has been accepted. However, Homayouni did not provide further details regarding the reason for Toshev’s resignation.
Usmon Toshev, an Uzbek national, led the national team for over six months. During his tenure, the Afghan players, under his guidance, played four official and friendly matches against Nepal, Thailand, Tajikistan, and Myanmar, all of which resulted in defeats for Afghanistan.
The manager of the national football team said they reached an agreement with an Italian coach, who is expected to be introduced as the new head coach of the national team in the coming days. However, he did not provide further details about the new coach.
This development comes amid growing dissatisfaction among fans due to the national team’s poor performances in recent official and friendly matches. Some have even called for major changes in the leadership of the country’s football federation.
