Work on Overpass Begins in Baraki, Kabul Residents Welcome the Project

The Kabul Municipality has announced the initiation of preliminary construction work for a motor overpass at Baraki Square, one of the most congested areas of the capital.
Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of the Kabul Municipality, stated that the overpass will be completed within two years at an estimated cost of around 1.5 billion afghani.
Mr. Barakzai said: “One section of this overpass will connect the Naderia High School area to the Traffic Square. It will be approximately 470 meters long, supported by around 525 pillars, and have a height of about 5.5 meters. The other section will connect the Deh Bagh area to the Parwan-e-Du locality, measuring approximately 700 meters in length, with 400 pillars and a similar height of about 5.5 meters.”
Several residents of the capital praised the launch of such projects and also voiced their expectations from the Kabul Municipality.
Ghausuddin, a resident of Kabul, told : “Once the overpass is built, it will create great convenience for citizens. This project will beautify the area and reduce traffic congestion.”
Dadullah, another Kabul resident, said: “Constructing the overpass is a very good initiative. It will help people reach their workplaces faster. However, the construction work should proceed quickly.”
Meanwhile, another important project is also underway in central Kabul. Officials from the Kabul Municipality have reported the commencement of earthwork on the road from Joy-e-Shir to the Kabul underground. The road will be 783 meters long and 32 meters wide and is being built at a cost of 62 million Afghanis.
