16 Development Projects Launched in Kandahar, Helmand

Construction work has begun on 16 infrastructure projects in Kandahar and Helmand provinces, with a total budget of 44 million Afghanis.
The first phase of these projects includes road construction and repair.
Officials say the funding is provided by the municipalities and the projects are expected to take five months to complete.
Mohammad Taher Abshar, spokesperson for Helmand Municipality, said: “For the fiscal year 1404, we had planned 15 projects. This is the first one being inaugurated. The road under construction is approximately 3,300 meters long and 10 meters wide, and will cost over 40 million AFN.”
Saifullah Asim, spokesperson for Kandahar Municipality, added: “We’ve started road resurfacing projects in various parts of the city. Around 5,000 square meters of damaged roads in different districts will be repaired under this project.”
Local residents welcomed the initiative but called for more development efforts.
Mukhtar Ahmad, a Kandahar resident, said: “The road was unpaved and in poor condition. There were frequent accidents. Shopkeepers also suffered. Large vehicles couldn’t pass each other easily, which caused more collisions.”
Another resident, Nooruddin, noted: “People were struggling. The road was full of dirt and garbage. Now it looks much better.”
According to officials, the implementation of these projects will expand Lashkargah city and improve traffic flow for residents.
