More than 97,000 metric tons of goods transported through Afghan railways in one week

The Ministry of Public Works of the caretaker government announced that from 14 August to31 July1404, a total of 97,587 metric tons of goods were transported through the country’s railways.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesman for the ministry, stated that these transfers were made through the Hairatan, Aqineh, Turghandi and Khaf-Herat ports.

According to the details provided, 68,008 metric tons were transported from Hairatan port, 13,497 tons from Aqineh port, 10,357 tons from Turghandi port and 9,725 tons were transported through the Khaf-Herat railway.

These goods include petroleum, non-petroleum and other imported and exported items, and of these, 126 tons were allocated to the country’s exports, especially dried fruits.

According to Haghshenas, this volume of transfers indicates the growing role of railways in the development of trade and the country’s economy, and the Ministry of Public Works is trying to pave the way for increased exports and transit by creating more facilities.
