Saudi Aid Reaches 4,000 Needy Families in Northern Afghanistan

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center of Saudi Arabia, in partnership with a local organization, has distributed aid to 4,000 vulnerable families across the provinces of Kunduz, Takhar, and Badakhshan.

The aid was provided to internally displaced families, returnees from Iran and Pakistan, and those affected by natural disasters within Afghanistan.

Shah Zamin Hilal, deputy head of the Tohid Foundation, said: “With financial support from King Salman Center and in cooperation with the Tohid Foundation, we provided aid to 2,000 families in Kunduz. The assistance was distributed to returnees, displaced families, orphans, widows, and other needy individuals.”

Qiyamuddin Qazizada, head of the Department for Refugees and Repatriation in Badakhshan, stated: “Those we have registered here are receiving support. Although many are in need, helping even these 1,000 families is a valuable step.”

Meanwhile, several families who received the aid expressed their gratitude but urged the Islamic Emirate and aid organizations to provide more assistance during the harsh winter.

Abdul Rauf, an internally displaced person, said: “Everyone has problems, but this is the first time we’ve received food supplies. However, it’s not enough for our eight-member family.”

Mohammad Muslim, a deportee from Iran, said: “A while ago I received 10,000 Afghanis in aid. I live in a rented house and pay 2,500 Afghanis in rent. We have no electricity.”

This comes as the World Food Programme recently reported that food security in Afghanistan remains critical. According to the report, over 17 million people in the country face severe food insecurity, and nearly 4 million children are at serious risk of malnutrition.
