Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Calls for Renewed Afghanistan-Pakistan Dialogue

The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JIP) has emphasized that the country’s policies toward Afghanistan are not linked to the people of Pakistan and has called on the people of Afghanistan to work toward improving relations between the two nations.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, stressing the need to resume dialogue between Afghanistan and Pakistan, urged Islamic countries and global powers, including China and Russia, to take action to restart talks and reduce tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said: “I want to tell the government of Pakistan that whatever was meant to happen has already happened. Now, to move toward the future and establish peace, the path of dialogue must be adopted. Global powers, China and Russia, as well as Islamic countries, should be involved in this process; with their mediation, formal talks with Afghanistan should be held.”

The prominent Pakistani figure also called on Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif not to damage relations with Afghanistan in pursuit of closer ties with the United States.

Earlier, several Pakistani political parties and politicians, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, had also called for a peaceful resolution of issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Yousuf Amin Zazai, a military analyst, said: “The Pakistani government essentially has two objectives: one is to strain relations between Afghanistan and the people of Pakistan, and the other is to foster terrorism in order to destabilize the region. The civilian population and political parties of Pakistan have no issues with the people of Afghanistan.”

Calls for a peaceful resolution of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan come as relations between Kabul and Islamabad have reached their peak in recent days, and the future of bilateral ties remains uncertain.
