OIC Calls for Diplomacy to Resolve Kabul–Islamabad Dispute

The Deputy Director General for Humanitarian Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in reaction to the clashes between Kabul and Islamabad, has emphasized resolving the disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

The OIC official also expressed concern over the continuation of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan and stressed support for the people of Afghanistan.

Khalil Ibrahim Okur, Deputy Director General for Humanitarian Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, said that they hope peace will prevail and wisdom will guide the situation, noting that Afghanistan and Pakistan are brotherly countries and expressing hope that the issue will be resolved through diplomatic channels.

While tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have decreased in the past 24 hours compared to earlier, regional efforts to further reduce these tensions are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), in its recent meeting, emphasized transparency in Pakistan’s foreign policy.

The movement’s spokesperson said that no one knows the real reason behind the clashes and disputes with Afghanistan.

Hussain Ahmad Yusufzai, spokesperson of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, said: “Tell us why you are fighting Afghanistan. The nation wants to know this. This is our demand. Across Pakistan, no one knows why we are currently in conflict with Afghanistan or what our problem with Afghanistan is.”

Pakistan’s Defense Minister, in an interview with the country’s media, has also insisted on the continuation of the conflict with Afghanistan. However, earlier the Defense Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in an interview with , said they are ready to defend the country.

Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Minister of National Defense of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said: “We are ready for war, whether it lasts one month, one year, or even ten years. We are prepared and have plans. We have no fear and no concern. We also assure the people that they should not worry.”

Idris Mohammadi Zazi, a political analyst, said: “So far, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has not been able to play a significant role in resolving conflicts and disputes among Islamic countries.”

Despite nearly two weeks having passed since the escalation of tensions and clashes between Kabul and Islamabad, both sides have still not reached a final agreement to resolve the tensions.
