China Begins Mediation Efforts Between Kabul, Islamabad

With the continuation of clashes between Kabul and Islamabad, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the country’s special envoy for Afghanistan has begun visits to Afghanistan and Pakistan to mediate between the two countries.
The spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry said Beijing hopes Afghanistan and Pakistan will reduce the current tensions and enter direct talks.
Lin Jian said that Beijing wants Kabul and Islamabad to declare a ceasefire as soon as possible and resolve existing problems through dialogue.
Roman Shirzad, a political analyst, said: “In this war, Pakistan’s military has also suffered a moral defeat; we target their military forces while they target civilians. China has influence over Pakistan and can persuade Islamabad to stop such actions.”
Meanwhile, some analysts believe that regional countries can play an important role in reducing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad. According to them, countries such as China, Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia can facilitate dialogue between the two sides through mediation and practical measures.
Wahed Faqiri, an international relations analyst, added: “The role of regional countries in resolving disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan is very important. Afghanistan can take the initiative and hold an international conference in Kabul, asking neighbors, the United Nations, and the international community to prevent Pakistan’s aggressions.”
At the same time, the spokesperson for the Khost governor said Afghan forces have killed five Pakistani soldiers near the hypothetical Durand Line in the Misterbel area of the province.
On the other hand, officials from the Kunar Department of Information and Culture say Pakistan’s military regime fired about 160 rockets into five districts of Kunar.
Ziaurrahman Spinghar, head of information at the Kunar Department of Information and Culture, told : “Pakistan’s military regime has once again fired rockets; in the past 24 hours, about 160 rockets have been fired along the hypothetical Durand Line in Kunar, but fortunately there have been no casualties or financial losses.”
This comes as yesterday the Ministry of National Defense of the Islamic Emirate announced that in retaliatory operations against Pakistan’s military regime attacks along the hypothetical Durand Line in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces in the eastern zone, 25 Pakistani soldiers were killed or wounded.
