The Taliban captured Nimroz province

The capital of Nimroz province on the Iranian border in western Afghanistan fell to the Taliban yesterday.

Rohgol Heidarzad, the deputy governor of the province, said that Taliban fighters had attacked the town of Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province.

Hidarrzad said that as a result of the attack, the city of Zaranj had completely fallen into the hands of Taliban fighters.

Meanwhile, Gol Ahmad Nourzad, a Nimroz MP, noted that the Taliban had seized all public buildings in Zaranj.

Nurzad said that the provincial capital was handed over to the Taliban without any clashes, noting that Zaranj had fallen to the Taliban due to the indifference of security officials.

Nurzad said that Nimroz airport and the provincial capital were also under the control of the Taliban, adding: “After the provincial capital was under the control of the Taliban, hundreds of families moved to the border to cross into Iran.”

Meanwhile, the Taliban have announced the complete capture of Nimroz province in a statement.
