128 Taliban fighters killed in Helmand

The Ministry of Interior announced that 128 Taliban fighters were killed in Helmand province.

According to the ministry’s bulletin, the Taliban fighters were killed as a result of a large-scale joint counterterrorism operation by security and defense forces with the support of the air force on Lashkar Gah.

As a result of this large-scale operation, two fighters of this group were also wounded, the ministry newsletter added.

The ministry also said in a newsletter that a Taliban commander and ten Taliban fighters had been killed in a counterattack by security and defense forces in the Toghandi area of Sar-e-Pul province.

The bulletin mentions this Taliban commander, Matiullah Omari, and states that six members of the group were also wounded in the counterattack.

The Interior Ministry added that the security and defense forces were not harmed in the incident.

The Taliban have not yet commented.
