The Taliban attacked the provincial capitals of Badakhshan and Baghlan

The Ministry of Defense says security and defense forces has repelled a Taliban attack on the town of Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, and the city of Pul-e-Khumri.

Fawad Aman, the deputy spokesman for the ministry, said that Taliban fighters had attacked the provincial capitals of Badakhshan and Baghlan provinces last night, which had been stopped by security and defense forces.

Mr. Aman added that as a result of these clashes between security forces and Taliban fighters in these provinces, many casualties were inflicted on the group’s fighters.

But he did not say the exact number of casualties.
