The Taliban captured the center of Samangan

Local sources in Samangan province report the fall of the provincial capital of Samangan to the Taliban.
A member of the Samangan provincial council says that this afternoon the town of Aibak was handed over to Taliban fighters without a fight.
The provincial council member added that all forces stationed in the city of Aibak had retreated without clashes with the Taliban.
According to him, the Taliban have now taken full control of the city of Aibak.
This is the sixth province to fall to the Taliban in recent days, after Takhar, Jawzjan, Kunduz, Nimroz and Sar-e-Pul provinces.
