Davood Laghmani was arrested with his companions in Maidan Wardak

Security sources report the arrest of Daud Laghmani, the governor of Ghazni province in Maidan Wardak province.

Interior Ministry spokesman Mirwais Stanekzai said that internal security police forces in Maidan Wardak province today arrested Ghazni governor Daud Laghmani, his deputy, the head of the office and his entourage in the province.

Meanwhile, Javad Moradi, the deputy governor of Maidan Wardak province, also confirmed the arrest of Davood Laghmani and his entourage.

This morning, the capital of Ghazni province fell to Taliban fighters, and some sources have claimed that the province was handed over to the Taliban as a result of a deal between Daud Laghmani, the governor, and Fazl Ahmad Shirzad, the provincial police chief.

The Taliban have taken control of 10 provinces, including Ghazni, in recent days.
