Taliban attack in Faryab repulsed

The Interior Ministry says the Taliban attack on Maimana, the capital of Faryab province, was repulsed.
The ministry said in a statement that the Taliban attacked Maimana last night, which was met with a serious response from the heroic forces of the security, defense and popular uprising, and their attack was repulsed.
The ministry added that 27 Taliban fighters, including Qari Shoaib, the Taliban’s military chief, and a Pakistani national, alias Zakir Ahmad, were killed and 16 others were seriously wounded in the clashes.
According to this morning’s newsletter, the air force also attacked the gathering of the group’s fighters, as a result of which they suffered heavy casualties.
