Antonio Guterres expressed concern about the deepening economic crisis in Afghanistan

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern about the deepening economic and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

“Women, children and men in Afghanistan now need international support and solidarity more than ever,” she said yesterday.

He said that almost half of Afghanistan’s population needed humanitarian assistance and called on UN member states to provide timely and comprehensive assistance to the Afghan people.

However, after the collapse of the Ashraf Ghani’s government and the domination of the Taliban, economic poverty and unemployment have become more prevalent among the Afghan people than ever before.
