Red Cross and Red Crescent communities call for care for vulnerable people in Afghanistan

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has called for immediate action to be taken to address vulnerable people in Afghanistan.
Red Crescent and Red Cross said in a joint statement that millions of Afghans were in need of urgent humanitarian assistance for reasons such as drought, severe food shortages, a fragile health system and the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The statement added that tens of thousands of families have been forced to flee their homes and live in relief camps in cities due to lack of food and income.
However, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross, 18.4 million people are currently in need of humanitarian assistance, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is requesting more than 63 million francs for emergency assistance to more than 560,000 people in 16 provinces.
