International Monetary Fund: We will not cooperate with the Taliban unless the government becomes transparent

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said it will not cooperate with Afghanistan until the Taliban establish a transparent government.

“Unless there is transparency in the international community’s recognition of the Taliban government, our engagement with Afghanistan will cease,” said Jerry Rice, a spokesman for the International Monetary Fund. The IMF program in Afghanistan has stopped. “It does not have access to the fund’s resources.”

He expressed concern about the impending economic and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and called on the international community to focus immediately.
